WORKING AS A GMD MARITIME SECURITY TEAM MEMBER

Our Maritime Security Teams usually embark/disembark client vessels transiting the High Risk Area (HRA) at the following ports:

  • Comoros | Moroni
  • Djibouti | Djibouti
  • Egypt | Safaga, Suez
  • Kenya | Mombasa
  • Madagascar | Toliara
  • Maldives | Male
  • Mauritius | Port Louis
  • Mozambique | Maputo, Nacala
  • Oman | Muscat, Salalah
  • Seychelles | Port Victoria
  • South Africa | Cape Town, Coega, Durban, Richards Bay
  • Sri Lanka | Galle
  • Tanzania | Dar Es Salaam
  • United Arab Emirates | Fujairah

We typically deploy you for 10 to 30 day contracts at a time.

GMDs’ policy is to deploy at least four (4) MST team members on board a vessel as also recommended by BIMCO Guardcon.

A typical 4-man GMD MST comprises of the following:

  • MST Team Leader: Responsible for the command and control of the MST and serves as GMD’s senior representative onboard the vessel
  • MST Second in Command: The MST Team leader’s right-hand man, always ready to replace him whenever necessary
  • MST Team Medic: Responsible for the MST’s daily health and the crew’s health during emergencies
  • MST Team Member/Marksman: Responsible for safety of the vessel, crew and cargo and for eliminating hostile targets over longer distances

We offer a competitive salary which is calculated on a daily operational and standby rate. Counter Piracy Riding Crew are also subject to tax exemptions provided you meet specific requirements. These details are disclosed during the telephone interview of the selection process.

GMD covers all your embarkation/disembarkation costs to and from deployment.

The following uniform is issued to MST Team members:

  • 2 x GMD navy blue golf shirts with Company logo
  • GMD navy blue cap / hat
  • GMD navy jacket with Company logo.
  • 2 x GMD Sand coloured / khaki cargo type trousers

The MST Team member need to procure the following items at own cost:

  • Sand coloured / khaki trouser belt
  • On duty footwear may include boots, hiking shoes or cross trainers (personal choice)
  • Off duty footwear may include sandals, flip flops etc.
