GMD Maritime Security Officer Certification of Completion
Course Description:
To compliment the required external qualifications and to ensure that GMD maritime security members remain current with the company’s policies and procedures, Maritime Security Officer (MSO) induction training is presented by GMD’s experienced trainers to all newly recruited GMD maritime security members.

Module Two: Medical
• Role and Responsibilities of a First Responder providing Emergency Care
• Incident Assessment
• Patient assessment
• Assess a patient’s airway
• Manage a patient’s airway
• Manage an unresponsive patient who is not breathing normally
• Use of appropriate equipment during a resuscitation attempt
• Administer emergency oxygen
• Manage catastrophic bleeding
• Manage a patient who is in shock

• Manage a patient with minor injuries
• Manage a patient with sudden poisoning
• Provide emergency care to a patient with head and spinal injuries

Module Three: GMD Firearms
• Know the main working parts of GMD ‘s firearms
• Understand the Advantages and Disadvantages of utilising 7.62 x 51mm and 5.56 x 45mm rifles during MSMs
• Know the Sequence of conducting safety precautions upon handling, prior to stripping and after firing a firearm
• Know how to Strip and Assemble GMD firearms in the correct sequence and conduct a function check after cleaning the firearms
• Know how to properly Maintain GMD firearms used in maritime environments
• Know how to Adjust the sights on all GMD firearms used during Maritime Security Missions
• Understand the different Firearms Stages used by GMD during Maritime Security Missions
• Know how to execute Immediate Action (IA) drills on all GMD firearms
• Know how to execute Remedial Action drills on all GMD firearms if IA drills failed to resolve the malfunction
• Describe how environment frictions influence a projectile’s flight and point of impact when fired from a large vessel at sea Factors that influence the selection of shooting stances onboard a vessel
• Understand the factors that influence the selection of shooting stances onboard a large vessel
• Know how to properly prepare a firing positions onboard a large vessel
