CONTROL ROOM OPERATOR

The Control Room Operators report directly to the Operation Manager

GMD office, Cape Town, South Africa

The Control Room Operators are responsible for manning the Control Room 24 hours, 7-days a week when Maritime Security Teams are deployed on maritime security missions. They are the first to be contacted by deployed MST Team leaders and vessel Masters during an emergency or when support onboard a vessel is required.

PSIRA: C-Grade
Computer literacy: Understanding of Microsoft Office, as well as overall good IT skills
Team work: Ability to work as part of a team and adapt to new systems and procedures
Accuracy: Attention to detail and the ability to produce information quickly and clearly
Interpersonal skills: Liaise with internal and external stakeholders for information and documentation often at short notice
Initiative: Being proactive, self-motivated always going beyond the call of duty
Work under pressure: Handle interruptions and emergency situations whilst maintaining effectiveness
Administrative skills: Ability to plan and organise work effectively
Results oriented: Focusing attention on key objectives and wanting positive outcomes
