Course Description:

This course covers fire prevention and fire fighting training for all seafarers in any capacity wishing to pursue a career at sea in accordance to the competencies as described in the STCW and SAMSA Codes respectively.

STC-SA Training Centre at the Port of Cape Town, South Africa

Prerequisites:

Medically fit for sea

Course Content:
  • Minimise the risk of fire and maintain a state of readiness to respond to any emergency situations involving fire
  • Fight and extinguish fires
  • Control fire fighting operations onboard a ship
  • Organise and train fire parties
  • Investigate and compile reports on incidents involving shipboard fires
  • Inspect and service fire-detection/suppression systems and fire fighting equipment
